Director - Strategy - Visa - Sydney
Position Summary
The Director, Strategy, is a critical role in the Strategy and Portfolio Management team within the Business Planning & Operations (BPO) organization. The purpose of the role is to own, develop, adapt and execute the strategic plan, create an integrated insights repository and build a strong analytical capability for Australia, NZ and South Pacific. The role requires a strong commercial, technology and strategic mindset to ensure its successful delivery.
The role will work closely with the Head of Strategy and Portfolio Management, Portfolio Management, the Australia, NZ & South Pacific Leadership Team, Client Relationship Managers, subject matter experts across the organization and global strategy teams. Visa’s vision and strategic pillars will be the foundation of the strategic plans and output.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Ecosystem Development
Develop and implement standardized strategic planning tools to foster consistency across geographies and projects
Collaborate with key clients to develop concepts that advance the payments ecosystem to Visa and the clients benefit
Identify, analyze, recommend and govern the execution of major value creating opportunities
Assess and recommend opportunities to invest, develop partnerships or introduce new capabilities to Visa or the ecosystem
Work with Visa teams and clients to identify data driven solutions that are actionable while outlining clear alternatives through scenario analysis
Clearly communicate ideas, objectives and results to stakeholders at every stage during the planning process
Ensure strong collaboration across functional teams locally, regionally and globally
Represent Visa in applicable fintech, startup and research group connections
Business Insights, Analysis and Reporting
Develop a disciplined and thorough approach to conducting in-depth analyses of macro-economics, industry, commercial/consumer payments and client’s business drivers.
Provide key clients evocative insights into their business and the payments industry
Identify and build sources of primary and secondary data to support business cases and identify market opportunities or solve business challenges
Lead primary research where required for major pieces of work
Develop financial models that aid in market analysis and decision making
Identify opportunities to constantly improve the quality of thinking applied to client opportunities and new busines
Use analytical skills and judgment to solve problems with limited information
Communicate complex concepts in a simple, structured way to internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Deliver and source global best practice in payments and innovation capabilities to be presented internally and to clients
Competition and environmental assessment
Lead and undertake analysis such as market sizing, company financial analysis, value chain assessment, early warning scans, war gaming and traditional strategic analysis
Evaluate new diverse business models with application to payments and recommend a wait, further assess, defend or engage stance
Own and produce the annual Australian Market landscape strategy for distribution to the Operating Committee
Own and update key competitor assessment documents for Aust, NZ & SP Leadership, Regional and Global Strategy consumption
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management / Business Administration (or similar academic experience required).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in strategic planning, management consulting, general management or related experienc
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project and Outlook.
Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership, with strong abilities in relationship management
Strong analytical capabilities a must
Ability to source data and run bespoke research
Creative problem solving
Clear and concise written communications
Effective oral communication and the ability to present in team and client settings
Attention to detail and consistent quality output
Demonstrated interest in technology, payments, banking and user experience
Understanding of competitive and technological challenges facing Visa and the payments industry
Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions for diverse and complex business problems.
Ability to demonstrate, collaboration, excellence, integrity, leadership, innovation and a client focus
Knowledge of investment practices and financial analysis.
Ability to travel in Australia, NZ and South Pacific as required
