Director Risk - Underwriting & Portfolio Management

Role Summary/Purpose:
Leader and/or manager of risk personnel/deal team/s responsible for Credit Risk Underwriting and/or portfolio management support as assigned and required for the commercial finance business of GE Capital in Australia and/or New Zealand for products including Cash Flow Loans (Leveraged Lending, Acquisition Finance, Corporate Loans) Asset Based Revolvers, and other Asset Secured Lending including Corporate Aviation, Equipment and Leasing Finance.

Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing risk personnel and/or deal teams responsible for all aspects of underwriting in the above segments and/or managing portfolios of financial assets in these segments, as may be required from time to time. The following list is indicative (not comprehensive) of what this could include:

- Coaching, managing and developing the relevant risk personnel and/or deal teams

- Assignment of tasks and work load

- Analysis of financial statements

- Oversight and/or Preparation of financial modeling required for underwriting or portfolio analysis.

- Analysis of relevant credit information as relevant/applicable

- Obtaining and processing required information from internal and external stakeholders;

- Leading the preparation of the formal credit approval request

- Stewarding the credit approval process as required.

- Leading as required the legal negotiation, documentation, security registration, AML requirements etc.

- Manage such relationships and communications with internal and external stakeholders as required.;

- Co-ordination of loan closings, fundings and handovers to the Relationship Management Team.

- Monitoring, managing, classification and reporting of the portfolio and any other actions required to ensure that the relevant financial assets are managed in a pro-active and predictive manner commensurate with the nature of the exposure.

- Such restructuring activities as may be assigned from time to time;

- Coordinating classification, PD/LGDs, ALLL/RAR etc. for relevant accounts/portfolio

- Supporting such risk infrastructure and reporting activities as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification (BA, MBA or CPA/CA) in commerce, business, accounting or finance, or CFA designation a plus

Experience

- 8+ years professional experience as a credit risk underwriter or related position preferably in a large corporate credit, financial, or investment firm environment

- Experience managing teams and working in a matrix organization

- Overseas posting or international experience a plus

Technical Knowledge and Skills

- Strong excel, word processing and power point skills

- Strong secured credit expertise and experience – knowledge of credit, risk, collateral and financial management techniques, and all related legal and security issues

- Strong financial, economic, market analysis experience and skills

- Clear, concise, and effective written & oral communication
