The Role
A unique and senior level opportunity has become available within BT Financial Group’s (BTFG) Core Risk & Compliance Team. Reporting to the Head of Core Risk & Compliance, your role will ensure that BTFG is compliant with all internal and external standards for managing compliance risk and that compliance systems are operating effectively across all BT business units.
As a people manager, this position is also responsible for contributing to the development of a high-performing, trusted and valued BT Core Compliance Team, including 5 direct reports.
Responsibilities
As a valued member of the Risk & Compliance community, your duties will cover a broad range of responsibilities including Strategy, Operational Management, People Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement.
More specifically, you will:
Develop and communicate a critical analysis of BT's operating environment and the key compliance obligations that arise as a result.
Be accountable for identifying opportunities for rationalising the operating environment to ensure optimal and appropriate compliance obligations and activity.
Deliver compliance KRIs that accurately measure compliance across BT and provide early warning of areas of potential non-compliance
Deliver SME reporting and presentations on key compliance matters to business, Board and other key stakeholders
Be accountable for ensuring that compliance obligations are identified and documented in business compliance plans
Be accountable for ensuring the three lines of defence model is embedded in the compliance framework.
Be accountable for ensuring compliance training is incorporated into the BT Risk training strategy and program
Work with Group Compliance to coordinate the implementation of any new or major changes to BT-wide regulatory obligations into business practices.
Lead, develop and sustain a high-performing BT Compliance team that is focused on strategic priorities and are valued by all customers, through clarity of purpose and goal setting, talent selection and development, performance measurement and management, coaching and training.
Contribute proactively and constructively to risk forums to achieve alignment and identify/share best practice opportunities.
Contribute to the ongoing development of BT’s risk culture primarily through maintaining a visible presence across the business to influence behaviours and maintain a high level of business engagement in risk management.
Collaborate with peers to collectively promote a high-performance culture and behaviours within BT Risk, through role-modelling behaviours that reinforce collaboration and remove siloed approaches and mentality, encourage accountability and personal responsibility and continuous improvement.

As a strategic thinker, you will take a proactive approach to managing risk and positively manage change through sound project management abilities.
To be considered, you will possess extensive risk and compliance management leadership experience; ideally a minimum of 10 years, combined with relevant degree qualifications. Financial Services and Wealth Management Experience, including strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations underpinning the wealth business (RG146, RG104, RG105, RG165, Privacy Laws and Conflicts of Interest), will be highly regarded.
