About the role

The Director of Sales and Marketing is a leadership position in the front line of our business capture environment. You will report to the Vice President of our Secure Communications and Information Systems (SIX) business and have overall responsibility for the development and leadership of the sales team in SIX


We will be looking for the successful candidate to drive the direction and solutions offered in new and existing markets, be responsible for opportunity lead generation, customer engagement/ identification, team leadership, validation of our global catalogue of products and systems solutions into the local market. The role will involve high levels of customer interaction, ranging from initial opportunity identification through to product delivery and ongoing account management.

Key Responsibilities:

The overall leadership of sales, marketing and business development activities
Understanding the current market, the future trends and the probable evolution of identified markets and working closely with Thales Global Business Unit to realise opportunities in the Australian market.
Developing and implementing strategic sales and marketing plans and sales forecasting activities in order to achieve budgeted order intake objectives
Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, industry influencers and key strategic partners
Developing and managing sales/marketing operating budgets

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Skills and Experience:

Proven track record running an effective sales team of 5+ sales people
Demonstrated experience identifying, capturing and winning business , in exess of $10 million for complex ICT solutions
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field of either: sales, business, management, technology or commerce.
At least ten years’ commercial and marketing experience at the senior management level
Proven capability of developing business plans that clearly articulate the market opportunity, customer value proposition and resulting ‘go-to-market’ strategy.
A very high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Highly developed strategic and business analysis skills
