About our team
Our Financial Services Tax team in Melbourne continues to expand, providing expert income tax advice/services to leading financial services clients in a variety of sectors, including funds management, infrastructure, and property and specialist asset management. Our growth has created an opportunity for a high performing Manager with a hunger for success to join our growing team.
About the role
This challenging tax role provides a mix of managing the day-to-day tax affairs of some of Australia's largest financial services groups as well as the opportunity to advise on one-off projects, including tax structuring and tax due diligence projects.
Key areas of challenge and involvement:
Responsibility for 'whole of client' management supporting the lead client Partners and Account Directors, including research and preparation of advice on complex tax matters
Providing specialist tax structuring and tax consulting advice in relation to the application of the trust rules, taxation of financial arrangements, infrastructure investment and cross-border international tax aspects
Manage large tax compliance functions for strategic clients, including tax returns and trust distribution reviews Being the primary point of contact for clients and managing several different projects and transactions
Build strong client relationships and take responsibility for developing contacts with target clients and support marketing initiatives through internal and external presentations
Managing the administrative aspects of transactions, including assisting with proposals, budgeting, billing and controlling of work in progress
Oversee and mentor our upcoming talent in the team through coaching and on the job training Maintain quality control on assignments and projects
About your experience
Degree qualified in Accounting and/or Law is essential, as is a progressive aptitude to achieve set objectives. Having ideally completed the CA or a Masters of Tax/Law, you will have several years of experience another "Big 4" or "second tier" Chartered Accounting or legal firm in the Financial Services tax area.
Commercially aware, with the ability to pro-actively manage a client's tax affairs, coupled with strong attention to detail and analytical skills will set you up for success in this exciting and challenging role.
