Thales Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) has delivered significant infrastructure projects across the world including rail signalling solutions in the UK, ticketing systems in New Zealand and road tolling facilities in Brisbane. GTS has a core competency worldwide managing Design, Construction, Systems Integration, Commissioning and Through Life Support across 4 key areas; Main Line Signalling (MLS), Urban Rail Signalling (URS), Revenue Collection Systems (RCS) and Integrated Communications Systems (ICS).



We are currently seeking a Sales Director to join our team. This position is a direct report to the Vice President – GTS, and is responsible for managing the execution of all sales and business development activities.

Key Responsibilities of this Role Include:

Setting the priorities and activities for all business development staff

Understand the current market, the future trends and the probable evolutions of the market

Maintain necessary contact with major key customers, industry associations and other customer representatives to achieve the objectives of the business unit

Identify potential key partners who could enter into strategic relationships

Develop and implement capture plans and perform the role of capture leader for must win opportunities

During bids, assist the Bid Team/Manager to define and to execute communication action towards Customer

Oversee the development of effective win themes for all opportunities

Maintain an understanding of customer budgets and timeframes

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Include:
Tertiary qualifications in management & business administration/engineering or an equivalent history of experience and achievement in a large and complex business with extensive production, commercial or contracting responsibilities

Sales experience at the senior management level and proven and effective leadership skills

A very high level of interpersonal and communication skills

Highly developed strategic and business analysis skills and effective decision making

The confidence and maturity of judgement to represent the company at high levels with customer organisations both nationally and internationally

Proven track record in the sales of complex technology in a rail environment as well as Business to Government sales
