Job description
The Director Medical Services is a key leadership position within the RFDS and is part of the Health Services Clinical Leadership Team. This role will progress the recognition of the RFDS as the pre-eminent provider of aeromedical and rural and remote services.

More specifically, the role is critical in leading medical input into the strategic direction of clinical services provided by RFDS Queensland, leading medical training and development; safety and quality of health services; progressing RFDSs contribution to medical research; developing, implementing and monitoring standards; providing expert advice and direction on workforce planning and development; and developing and maintaining key strategic partnerships to develop and enhance RFDS and patient outcomes.

Desired Skills and Experience

Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a medical officer.
Current Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM and / or ACEM or other critical care college
MPH, MPHTM, Public Health Qualifications or working towards a similar qualification would be desirable
FRACMAGEM or JCCA accreditation would be desirable
Demonstrated expertise in primary health care and/or aeromedical services
Previous experience in clinical leadership roles; ability to manage and motivate a team of medical professionals.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated management, problem solving and decision making skills.
Knowledge of the Australian Health Care Systems, including the Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulations 1996.
Experience in strategic planning and managing health services.
