Job description
To support us through this exciting growth phase and to replace our outgoing Head of Data, we’re now looking for a self­-motivated technology wizard with an innovative problem-­solving attitudeto join the management team of our data geeks in Sydney.
The responsibilities of this key role go way beyond just data. The Head of Data not only has the chops to roll up their sleeves and provide hands-­on technical solutions to client challenges, but can also manage a team of developers. As Head of Data you manage the technical aspects of all agency client projects in close cooperation with the Head of Insights and his team of analysts. In addition, you also advise the Head of Product Development on any important technical decisionsand support his team of software engineers in any R&D activities.

Your responsibilities include the gathering of requirements, development of solutions, cost estimates, assignment of tasks, quality control, management of deadlines and resourcing as well as the mentoring of your team of technical geeks in general. You not only optimize your own code but make sure developers and engineers are able to optimize theirs. If you do not know the answer to a question, you find the best way to solve a problem by investigating it yourself or in conjunction with your team and partners. Your areas of expertise should encompass data warehousing, data processing, cloud computing, distributed computing, large­scale system design and maintenance as well as security ­- the list goes on and is growing every day. Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum qualifications
+ Degree in computer science or similar degree/equivalent practical experience
+ 5 years of relevant experience incl. management of local & remote developers
+ Experience architecting and implementing large­scale distributed systems

Preferred qualifications
+ Record of individual technical achievement
+ 8 years of relevant hands­on technical and management experience
+ Experience in highly­complex, technically­challenging, cross­functional projects
+ Outstanding RMDBS knowledge in preferably more than one technology
+ Excellent Python, Java, Go, Linux and/or C/C++ skills
+ Entrepreneurial spirit or history (success or failure doesn’t matter)
+ Experience in advanced marketing analytics and optimisation projects
+ Thorough understanding of online platforms such as web analytics & ad serving
+ Attention to detail bordering on OCD absolutely crucial for success
+ Demonstrated ability to manage client and partner relationships
+ Demonstrated ability for developing processes and documentation
+ Confidence in identifying, presenting and selling­in solutions to clients
