The Director of Albury’s new art museum will be the envy of their peers throughout Australia.

You will be the face of Australia’s newest contemporary art museum.
Desired Skills and Experience
The Position
The Director’s role is to work with other cultural and business professionals to develop and drive initiatives that will successfully position the Albury Art Museum as one of the pre-eminent cultural institutions in Australia.

Qualification/Licences
Tertiary qualifications in Arts, Management or a related discipline.
Experience
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of contemporary public art museum practice.
Significant experience in the development of arts and cultural programs.
Authority & Accountability
Demonstrated ability to manage and improve the performance of a multi-skilled group of staff working within a contemporary, public art museum.
Planning and monitoring budgets and overseeing financial contracts.
Demonstrated ability to work under broad policy direction
Demonstrated ability to delegate responsibility for the operation of services.
Specialist Knowledge & Skills
High level capacity to ensure the effective operation and growth of a contemporary art museum.
Demonstrated ability to develop, and implement traditional innovative income-generating activities within a public art museum environment.
Excellent capability in commercial practice retailing and the food industry within the context of cultural facilities.
High level demonstrated skills in the following:
Project management.
Policy and procedural development and implementation.
Facility marketing.
Understanding of the corporate environment in which AlburyCity cultural facilities operate.
Solid understanding of relevant statutes, legislation and obligations governing Council service delivery.
Judgement and Problem Solving
Ability to make decisions that balance service operational needs and customer needs.
Ability to research solutions and develop sound strategic and business development plans for arts and cultural programming.
Demonstrated understanding and use of evaluation tools in facility management.
High level of decision-making ability.

Management Skills
Demonstrated leadership skills to engage, motivate and develop staff, provide clear direction, foster an effective working environment.
Demonstrated understanding of and ability to implement work health and safety and risk systems.
Well developed project planning, financial management and evaluation skills including the ability to prepare annual plans and budgets.
Proven ability in implementing change based on an understanding of audience needs.
Interpersonal Skills
Excellent skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels within private, public and community sectors.
Excellent report writing skills and grant submission skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to negotiate outcomes.
Ability to lead and facilitate meetings and forums and speak effectively in public forums.
Ability to build a highly motivated and committed team who are able to participate in decision making.
