Director of Business Development, Education
Musica Viva Australia presents over 2000 live performances and educational programs annually to audiences of all ages across Australia and overseas. Music education is core to our business, as we seek to ensure that every child’s right to music education is made a reality in Australia.

At this time of transition and change in the education sphere, both in Australia and internationally, this position has the chance to make an enormous difference in the creative future of Australia. We are seeking an experienced driver of change who combines entrepreneurial flair, strategic thinking, business acumen, team leadership, and a commitment to excellence in arts education. The position is responsible to the CEO for the leadership to build Musica Viva’s revered Education program’s revenue, resources, collaborations, and growth opportunities.

Desired Skills and Experience
Essential
Extensive experience in managing multi-dimensional business units in an industry of similar volatility to the arts
An interest in, and understanding of the Australian cultural/educational environment
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing successful and innovative business growth strategies and the teams to deliver them
Demonstrated capacity to position new technology business opportunities for success
Strategic planning and project-management skills
Financial and analytical skills to effectively manage budgets, measure success and map trends
Stakeholder management skills in the public sector, particularly in managing advocacy programs with government ministers (federal, state and territory)
Demonstrated people management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, juggling competing demands and substantial business objectives
Tertiary qualifications in arts and/or business administration and/or commensurate experience in the industry
Ability to travel interstate regularly and, from time to time, internationally

Desirable
Demonstrated expertise in managing geographically diverse personnel
Database and systems management experience
Education experience, incorporating strategy development and/or change management
