About the Role
The role of Operational Risk in Macquarie is to facilitate the continued improvement in operational risk awareness and culture across the Macquarie Group, through the continual refinement and implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF). It is the coordinating and central force for operational risk across the Group and must have a confident grip on the risk profile of all our businesses.
As Director, Operational Risk you will combine a relationship manager role focusing on the funds management business with ownership of the global business assurance policy and methodology. Your specific responsibilities will include:
Understand risk profile and key business processes and provide advice and challenge.
Review risk reporting, assessments, incidents, key risk indicators, projects and assurance activities.
Act as a source of advice and quality control on the implementation of the ORMF
Approval of new products and businesses
Ownership of the group wide control assurance methodology.
Provide training and awareness of key risk management policies.

Desired Skills & Experience

With a background in assurance, advisory or within a fund manager, you will need to be able to demonstrate a practical and commercial understanding of the funds management business in an assurance capacity. Additionally you will possess:
Bachelor's degree and a relevant post graduate qualification such as CA, CPA, CIA.
Lateral thinker with problem solving, consulting skills and an ability to grasp abstract concepts/complex situations. Comfortable interpreting and balancing commercial issues within the risk framework.
Strong relationship skills with the ability to gain buy-in, trust and understanding; ability to influence and negotiate with senior management.
Experienced in leveraging a matrixed organisation to deliver results.
Comfortable with empowerment to make decisions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and results-driven environment.
