Job description
The Law Council of Australia is the peak representative body of the Australian legal profession, representing the profession on national and international issues, federal law and the operation of federal courts and tribunals. The Council also actively works for the improvement of the law and of the administration of justice.
Working as part of the Senior Management team and reporting to the Secretary General, you will play a leading role in the development of domestic legal policy and the provision of high quality policy advice to the Executive and Directors.
This is a future focussed role with the successful applicant working with a wide range of experts and specialist advisers to develop clear policy positions on behalf of the Law Council across a diverse legal landscape. You will be seen as an expert in your field, leading the policy team to undertake quality research, analysis and assessments to help ensure the Law Council becomes the thought leader of the Australian legal profession. To be successful in the role you will have demonstrated expertise in the development of policy, its advocacy, be able to work independently and with a diverse group of stakeholders across a range of issues.
Academic qualifications in law and/or policy are essential.
