Director Analytics Visa Sydney

Job Description
The Director – Visa Analytics role will be based in Sydney and will report through the Senior Director Strategy, Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific. The role will work closely with the Analytics regional hub based in Singapore to ensure adoption of best practice Visa analytics principles in the Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific markets.

Responsibilities
Deliver high quality analyses that synthesize data analysis and research into key fact-based findings and actionable recommendations;
Identify creative ways to combine analytics with research and other data sources, and collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders to bring holistic solutions to Visa’s clients that demonstrate a deep understanding of their business;


Collaborate with Client Solutions, Analytics Delivery and other internal clients to fully understand client business challenges and define approaches to answering business questions using analytics;
Develop final output including articulation of key insights for clients, actionable recommendation and value;
Developing next-generation analytic techniques where existing techniques are not adequate enough to address business challenges;
Executing on the analytic plan with appropriate data mining and analytic techniques;
Foster greater analytic competency to support and guide more fact-based and timely decision making;
Create and apply innovative analytical methods of problem solving;
Managing team workload, providing prioritization guidance for the project flow whilst working collaboratively with regional and global functions to ensure process efficiency across both geographies;
Champion the use of data driven decision making within the Australian and NZ businesses and help to build an analytics discipline across the Visa functions;
Manage multiple analytics requests and priorities at the same time;
Performing other tasks assigned by the Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific leadership team on data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation, and other cross team functions, on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

Professional

Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
Sound knowledge of statistical principles;
10+ years of business experience, with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative methodologies. Experience in payment, retail banking, or retail merchant industries is preferred;
Must be team oriented, energetic, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, with the ability to tailor data driven results to various audience levels;
Excellent communication skills – both written & verbal (in English);
Sense of urgency to adapt to quickly changing business needs;
Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research and Management or Engineering. Post Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) highly desirable.
Technical

Expert level knowledge of advanced data mining and statistical modeling tools and techniques;
Deep SAS experience; proficiency and continuous skills development in leading edge analytic tools, e.g. SAS OR, Tableau, Revolution R, SPSS, SAP BO;
Experience in using Microstrategy and Tableau functions;
Hands on experience on processing extremely large data sets. Knowledge of payment network transactional data is a plus;
Strong project management skills with experience in managing and delivering large, complex analytic projects;
Experience presenting ideas and analysis to stakeholders.
Business

Good business acumen with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative methodologies. Experience in payment, retail banking, or retail merchant industries is preferred;
Ability to successfully persuade/influence internal and externals stakeholders for building best-in-class solutions;
