Job Description
The Director is responsible for the operational management and strategic development of the UNSW Built Environment Design Futures Laboratory and to support teaching and research within the Australian School of Architecture and Design. The position is responsible for providing an environment for staff and students that supports advanced model making skills, digital fabrication and encourages the exploration, innovation and research into leading design theories.
Initially the role will require a period of broad consultation, collaboration and planning as a means of establishing a new strategic and operational plan for the Laboratory.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
Experience in operational management and strategic development of student workshop facilities that incorporate advanced model making and digital fabrication technologies.
Teaching experience at a university level in one or more than one of five design disciplines and the ability to enhance and develop teaching delivery models
The ability to run a workshop as an “enterprise” through an entrepreneurial and innovative business understanding.
