SENIOR LEADERSHIP ROLE: SCIENCE AND EDUCATION
The Australian Museum is at an exciting time in its evolution with transformational development works underway and significant plans for the future expansion of the Museum. We’re looking for a motivated and highly experienced professional, with exceptional communication and management skills, who will lead the Australian Museum Research Institute and educational initiatives and be part of a dynamic and collaborative executive leadership team that is driven to excel.
About the Role
As Director of AMRI and Science & Learning you will play a critical leadership role in the continued development and growth of the Australian Museum. Working within the Executive Leadership Team you will provide expert advice as well as identifying new opportunities and challenges. The role’s remit addresses high priority Government Agenda items around environmental and economic sustainability including: animal conservation; management of invasive pest species; assessments of the impact of environmental climate change and sustainable use of Australia’s biodiversity. You will report to the Executive Director & CEO of the Australian Museum and oversee 80 professional staff plus 100 support staff, volunteers and fellows.


Desired Skills and Experience
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate:
Tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in a relevant scientific discipline
Extensive experience in overseeing a large scientific division within a museum, university or similar environment, including collection management, and the sourcing and management of research grants funding
Demonstrated understanding of the development of education programs and division-wide budget management
