Strategy Director - OMD - Melbourne


Job description
Due to the rapid expansion of OMD, one of Melbourne's largest media agencies, we are looking for a Strategy Director with a curious & creative mind to lead strategic thinking for key OMD clients; as well as influencing the company’s broader strategic output.

The successful candidate will have at least 5-years’ experience in the advertising communications industry and demonstrate a real passion for creating groundbreaking work that delivers genuine business results for our clients

At the heart of this is a team of six strategists who understand both the demand opportunity and the impact that communications can have in creating desire for brands.

We are looking for a Strategy Director with a curious & creative mind and 5+ years’ experience in the advertising communications industry, who will take the lead in directing strategic communication responses for key OMD clients as well as influencing the company’s broader strategic output.

Role and responsibilities:
In addition to creating and presenting strategic responses to client briefs, there are numerous roles that the Strategy Director will fulfil in the development of clients, staff, our product and our reputation; these include:

Product
Contribute to the evolution of the Strategy product and capability
Be a champion for OMD’s Vision operating system which shares insights and ideas with other markets around the world.
Client Planning
Inspire our clients to think differently about the role that media can play in growing their business
Identify the strategic requirements and specific opportunities by client
Lead their Business Team to inventive & dynamic solutions through collaborative working with the agencies resources, client and agency partners
Create ‘agenda-setting’ communications platforms
Present to clients with confidence and conviction
Be a ‘midwife’ for creative ideas & judge ideas for their potential to deliver strategy
Ensure plans and activation are on strategy & focused on business outcomes
Direct measurements and interpretation of results into strategic recommendations
New Business
Assist (either as strategy lead or contributor) for major new business pitches as required
Ability to bring all agency and network resources to bear on pitches

Education & Connection
Be the most educated in the agency on all agency capabilities
Be committed to educating the Business Teams
Be committed to educating your clients
Be committed to finding ways to use all agency resources to deliver campaigns
Always be on the search for better ways and new ideas
Contribute to internal initiatives to inspire and educate the agency
Recognition
Be committed to developing award winning work
Champion preparation of entries of work into award schemes
Lead with identifying work for PR for both client and agency
Be a spokesperson for the agency’s thinking and work
