Job Description
The role is primarily to oversee and become the subject matter expert in the Margin Lending processes and operational infrastructure within the Melbourne Product Services team. Activities include refinancing of loans, managing margin positions, calculating fees, distribution of statements, reconciliations and dealing directly with external and internal clients.
In addition it is also expected that the incumbent be cross trained and take responsibilities in other functions within the Product Services team specifically Capital Market administration, fee based product management, commission trails and play an active role in a number of projects with a strong emphasis on infrastructure change and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities -
· Accurately and effectively administer and oversee day to day margin lending requirements which includes (but is not limited to);
-Mange the Margin call positions
-Oversee the credit limit process
-Manage Margin Lending cash transfer requests
-Generation and distribution of risk reports
-Manage the Margin Lending Client Statements Generation and Distribution
-Oversee the annual fixed loan campaign
-Administer Margin lending account opening, closing request, credit limit increases/decreases and refinance.
-Direct directly with internal and external clients/adviser including the handing of the margin call centre phone lines
· Continually review procedures and amend accordingly, ensuring key risks and controls are adequate.
· Act as primary Margin Lending contact with legal and compliance regarding policy / regulatory changes.
· Serve as the internal and external product champion for Margin products and foster the relationships with all internal sales and product channels.
· Cross train and take on fee based/portfolio management related tasks for Wealth Management clients including the creation of client portfolios and distribution of quarterly portfolio performance reports
· Cross train and take ownership of administrative processes in relation to specific capital markets events.
· Take an active role and deliver on infrastructure, product and process improvement projects within the Product Services team
· Stay knowledgeable on domestic and international policies and regulations for determining how they impact best practices.
· Provide general support and take on additional responsibilities as directed by the Product Services team manager
Qualifications
Technical/Specialist skills/competencies
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
· Ability to interpret regulatory body (ASIC, ASX) rules and apply to the business in the context of Operations control points.
· Good knowledge of Australian securities regulations and compliance requirements, including ASX Market Rules, Securities Clearing House Business Rules, Australian Clearing House Rules, Corporations Act and ASIC policies.
· Exposure to the Australian and global securities markets.
· Ability to assist in identifying risks and minimise potential liabilities to the business
· Experience and exposure to IT platforms with the ASIC/ASX platforms, specifically portfolio, settlement and clearing systems

· Well developed business writing skills including the preparation of presentations with a target audience of up to Executive Director.
· Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.

Business/Industry knowledge/competencies
· Sound understanding of equity markets, derivatives and lending principles.
· Comprehensive understanding of end to end processes for all margin lending related products, including back office/operational functions
· Demonstrate strong operational knowledge/skills such as trade execution, settlements, cash movements, corporate action, administration and reconciliation process within the ASIC/ASX environments
· Strong project management and skills on large scale, complex improvement programs with multiple work plans with an investment operations environment
· Experience in operational transformation and driving improvement, including development of target operating models, finance structures, design and implementation of processes and supporting systems
Qualifications / Experience Required
· Desirable tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics or Commerce
· Desirable PS146 accreditation
· Minimum 5 years financial markets experience.
