Director - Control - Laureate Australia - Sydney


Job description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our fast growing business. You will report to the AMEA Controller and the CFO and will contribute to the strategic and operational success of Laureate Australia.
You will be responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and compliance of internal and external reporting whilts assisting with continuous process improvement within the broader Finance team. You will also lead and nurture a dedicated, high performing finance team in a fast paced environment. You will also be responsible for the efficient implementation of a new Peoplesoft accounting system.

Key responsibilities will include:

Developing & nurturing a high-performing finance team
Overseeing completion of full month end closing and reporting processes
Working with the FP&A team and the business to ensure that month end results reflect business activity in the period
Completing USGAAP Reporting pack and provide concise and insightful analysis and commentary relating to financial performance to Laureate (US parent)
Ensuring effective Sarbanes Oxley compliant internal controls are established and maintained
Successfully implementing a new Peoplesoft accounting system
Overseeing completion of all other reporting requirements including FBT and GST returns
Ensuring effective internal controls are established and maintained

Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful you will have:

Relevant tertiary qualifications with an Accounting major with CA qualifications
Big 4 training is essential, with extensive experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
A solid understanding of technical and commercial accounting practices
Technical expertise in USGAAP Reporting experience essential
Proven ability to design and implement new systems and ways of doing work
Experience of implementing a Sarbanes Oxley control environment
Experience with ACCPAC Accounting system and Peoplesoft
People management skills including the ability to coach, develop, influence and drive people and results
Confidence in challenging the status quo and embracing change efforts
Ideally worked for a US based parent company
Project management experience would be advantageous
