Job Description

Working in our operations in Australia you will be required to work out of your home office, which should be within one hours driving distance from a major airport in either Melbourne or Sydney. You will be required to travel to client sites at least 60% of the time. Travel will include both domestic and international (New Zealand, Singapore) locations and may be on short notice. As our primary customer facing technologist, you will be responsible for the start-up and commissioning of new membrane filtration systems from instillation inspections through operator training and the servicing of existing installations. These duties involve troubleshooting these systems from mechanical, electrical (primarily PLC modifications), and process perspective. Specific duties may include:

• Mechanical and electrical repairs, modifications and upgrades to KMS systems
• Commissioning assistance to clients and KMS process engineers
• Installation supervision of KMS systems
• PLC & Panel View code development, debugging and set up.
• PLC network setup and commissioning.
• Instrument set up and calibration.
• PID loop tuning and set up.
• Making modifications to PLC and Panel View code.
• Supervise equipment installation
• Start up and optimize KMS systems
• Conduct customer-training sessions.
• Control start up costs to budgeted levels.
• On site trouble shooting of systems, controls and processes.
• Participate in a 24/7 emergency on call, duty roster.
• Develop and compile custom Operation & Maintenance manuals.
• Provide telephonic support to our customers.
• Recommend mechanical and process improvements.
• Pursue spare parts sales opportunities.

Skills

Required Qualifications

• Qualified Supervisor Certificate for Restricted Electrical Work or Qualified Supervisor for Electrical Work
• At least 2 years direct experience with trouble shooting and implementing PLC code in a network environment.
• Water treatment, waste water treatment or membrane systems understanding with some direct experience.
• At least 1 years direct experience with designing PLC code
• PC supervisory system programming experience a plus. Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical control panels, PID loops and instruments.
• Ability to develop a strong understanding of the various “Process Engineering Principles” used by our Process Engineers.
• Excellent customer skills.
• Self-starter that works well in a group and as an individual.
• Experience with pumps, fans, electric motors, instruments and process controls.
• Good communication skills.
• Possess the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
• Minimum Qualified Supervisor Certificate for Restricted Electrical Work.
• Trade qualification in Electrical trades or Instrument Technician or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering


Preferred Qualifications

• SCADA (RS View)
• Allen Bradley Ladder Logic including Logic 500 & 5000 Programming
• Water or waste water treatment experience
• Capital Equipment Systems experience.
