McDonald’s has an opportunity for a creative and confident individual to join the marketing team as our Director of Culinary Innovation, based at Thornleigh (NSW) on a full time basis.


As our Chef in residence, the ideal candidate for this role will be current with and have a very good understanding of food and taste trends, cooking processes and how to create and improve our menu by bringing great tasting food to life in a commercial environment.

The main purpose of the Director – Culinary Innovation role includes:

Developing concepts, products and platforms for McDonald’s strategic menu growth, including technical development of safe, consistent food products that are consumer relevant, operationally feasible and economically viable.
Managing the process and infrastructure for testing, trial and development of new products and food concepts.
Collaborating with Supply Chain, Marketing, QA and others to improve existing products and to commercialize new products and concepts.
Collaborating with Menu and Marketing teams to bring consumer driven menu needs to life, including prototype concepts developed for further research.
Being up to speed with industry trends, processes and technologies, cooking and operational platform technologies and managing the food exploration, development and validations associated with them.
Contributing to innovation projects at McDonald’s within cross-functional teams.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

Formal qualifications and training in dual areas of Culinary Arts and Food Science or Food Technology.
The ability to develop products end to end, bridging from creative brief through to the commercialization of the product.
Related work experience in either QSR or FMCG, in a technical or product development management role.
Proven leadership and interdisciplinary managerial skills within a department or project team.
Strong understanding of the role of the consumer in food development.
Strong presentation skills and English language competency.
