Position Summary
As a member of the Asia Pacific Corporate Relations Team and the Australia New Zealand Leadership Team, you will:

Ensure Visa’s profile and reputation is maintained and enhanced through the delivery of strategic communications and issues management programs aimed at the people most important to the sub-region’s business. Specifically, communicate the role, activities, achievements and needs of Visa to key communities including government, media, industry, members, alliance partners and consumers and
Make an overall contribution to the successful running of the business
Assist with the development of the corporate culture.

Job Scope

Media relations

Establish and maintain close relationships with journalists, strengthening Visa’s direct contact with leading general, business, lifestyle and technology print and broadcast media
Identify and maximize opportunities to profile Visa’s brand, network, products and technology leadership and new initiatives
Act as media spokesperson and ensure that selected spokespersons are effectively trained to deliver key messages
Advise and, when required, front for business in crisis and issues management
Ensure Visa is the first port of call for the media seeking comment and background information on the payments industry
Ensure media resources are timely, relevant and up-to-date

Internal communications

Work with regional/global internal comms to implement local employee communication and engagement programs eg volunteering events, intranet content
Support the Group Country Manager and Country Managers in development of internal content for team offsites and other internal announcements as required

Public affairs

Manage issues in a sub-regional, regional and global context
Broaden the depth and dimension of Visa’s position with key communities
Work with Government Relations to identify legislative, regulatory and political threats to, or opportunities for, the sub-region
Assist in the development, management and implementation of public affairs strategy to achieve agreed business objectives
Manage a crisis and issues communications management program

External communications and executive support

Responsibility for Visa’s thought leadership programs
Manage the staging of the annual client forum
Monitor and respond to community concerns on issues affecting Visa and the payments industry
Manage Visa’s relationships with key influencers such as peak bodies, industry associations, consumer and special interest groups
Identify and manage public speaking engagements for the GCM and Country Managers
Promote Visa’s reputation and profile through strengthened relationships with peers in major clients’ organizations
Advise and work with business units (Product, Marketing, Risk, Acceptance, V.me) on specific communications campaigns
Manage corporate social media and content development (documents, research reports, web sites, videos, blog, Twitter, presentations and monthly enewsletter)

Corporate Social Responsibility

Responsible for Visa’s charitable giving and employee volunteering programs for Australia and NZ
Develop and manage relationships with charitable partners
Oversight of financial literacy programs and relationships in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific
Corporate sponsorships
Qualifications

Professional

Minimum 10 years in relevant corporation or agency serving equivalent clients
University degree

Technical

MS Office competence
MS PowerPoint skills
Familiarity with the Internet and digital communications channels

Strong communications background
Strong network of media contacts
Business experience of the local markets
Strategic communications planning
Superior inter-personal and presentational skills
Outstanding writing abilities
