The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research (DVCR) portfolio currently includes six research services groups, which support the DVCR and researchers to achieve the University’s research goals, as well as a number of cross-disciplinary institutes and centres. One of these service groups is Research Development and Collaboration, and this includes the University-wide Core Research Facilities program. Core Research Facilities serve as focal points of research activity; bringing together a critical mass of researchers from diverse disciplines, while providing the means to better manage and sustain high-end research infrastructure to deliver high quality research outcomes, particularly in areas of strategic priority. Our largest Core Research Facility is Sydney Microscopy & Microanalysis.
Applications are now invited for the appointment of Director, Sydney Microscopy and Microanalysis. In this position, you will provide strategic and operational management of SMM. This will include responsibility for user relationships, oversight of operations, workforce and resource management, and ensuring a safe work environment, in line with our Core Research Facilities Program.
Specifically, You Will
manage the design and development of the strategic plan, key objectives and goals for the work area to ensure the unit provides facilities and technical support that are conducive to excellent research outcomes
provide operational and financial management for the work area and its related entities including effective management and delivery of administrative and technical support services
provide effective leadership and management guidance and support to the staff in SMM
provide key stakeholder relationship management
ensure industry and market alignment
manage risk and workplace health and safety for the work area.
The successful applicant will be offered a five year fixed term appointment on a full-time basis, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
